A Key Milestone - 60 Years of Service
Diamond H recognizes one of its own, Charles Mays, for 60 years of service
FORT WORTH, Texas (August 25, 2009) - Diamond H, a leading provider of enterprise employee recognition solutions and service award programs, recognizes one of its own this week, Mr. Charles Mays, for his dedicated years of service to the company. Mr. Mays has served the organization for 60 years and has been a dedicated employee since first starting in 1949.
Mr. Mays initially started as a salesman with Diamond H and quickly rose to sales manager, and eventually president in 1974, a position he maintained until 1988 when he “retired.” At that point Mr. Mays was asked to stay on as a consultant and President Emeritus with the organization. He continues to be a loved and valuable individual at Diamond H and usually works out of the office for several hours each week where he keeps in contact with some of his longest-held clients.
Mr. Mays has spent the majority of his life living in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Paschal High School and later went on to attend Texas Christian University. He met his wife, Virginia, in Fort Worth after three years of service in the Army Air Corps., and married her in 1949 as he was starting his new career with Diamond H. At the time the company was called Haltom Manufacturing and specialized in the manufacturing and selling of emblematic jewelry, specifically custom watches and school rings.
“When I first came to work, we manufactured emblematic jewelry, specifically school rings, which were a big dollar item in those days. Today, jewelry is not the only recognition item that employees have to select from. They have a wide selection of gift items to choose from that better recognize a person’s loyalty to the company.” – Mr. Mays
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Mays has been a positive influence at the company. One of his major legacies is his dedicated service to the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show. Mr. Mays has served this client for many years and oversees Diamond H’s manufacturing of approximately 1,400 badges worn by the show’s many officials and board of directors, as well as numerous awards that are distributed each year throughout the 24-day Stock Show.
