How to Bridge the Gap between Business Strategy & Execution

Diamond H's Kimberly Smithson-Abel featured in the WorldatWork Journal

FORT WORTH, Texas (December 22, 2009) - Kimberly Smithson-Abel of Diamond H Recognition has been featured in the latest issue of the WorldatWork Journal. Diamond H, a leading provider of enterprise employee recognition solutions and service award programs, utilizes its industry experience and thought leaders, such as Abel, to deliver award winning solutions to large organizations.

The article, titled “Frontline Workforce Engagement Through Performance Management and Total Rewards: Bridging the Gap Between Strategy and Execution” focuses on how businesses can bridge the gap between an overall business strategy and the frontline execution of that strategy. “In order for a business to achieve long-term success, there must be a link between the development of a business strategy and the execution of that strategy by frontline workers,” stated Abel. The article explores how business leaders can put plans and processes in place to ensure high-level business strategies are effectively executed at the ground-level.

According to Abel, this means a focus on driving the engagement of frontline workers through recognizing and rewarding their key behaviors. “Oftentimes business leaders focus on rewarding results or outcomes. While this approach can be helpful, rewarding employee behaviors is a much more effective approach for driving employee engagement and closing the gap between a larger business strategy and its execution,” stated Abel. The article goes on to discuss a blue print for closing this performance gap and a method for quantifying what this can mean to a business.

Abel has supported HR professionals for close to 20 years, helping to advance employee engagement and recognition solutions. She has held a number of positions within the employee rewards and recognition industry, and currently serves as the Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Diamond H Recognition. At Diamond H, Able is responsible for delivering consulting services to Fortune 1000 level organizations looking to implement strategic recognition and reward solutions, as well as lead the product development effort for the company’s InspirusTMTechnology platforms.

The WorldatWork Journal is a publication of the WorldatWork organization. Total rewards include everything the employee perceives to be of value resulting from the employment relationship.” The WorldatWork Journal is published quarterly and is distributed to key HR leaders, with total readership of over 40,000.
